Over the course of our first month post-launch we’ve gotten some great feedback about several of ATLAS’ features and functions. Our team has been working diligently to research ways to streamline the app even further and account for what we’re hearing from the community. To that end, we’ve made some significant improvements that address some of the more common points.
The most noticeable change is elimination of sign up and log in requirements. We take privacy and security very seriously and designed those requirements to protect our users as well as meet the recommendations of our legal counsel. Many of you felt that the way this was done was too burdensome and we have redesigned the system around those concerns. Thank you to everyone who brought this to our attention!
Another point frequently mentioned was the app’s required permissions. Earlier in the month we were able to reduce the number of permissions requested by ATLAS immediately in response to what we were hearing, but felt this didn’t go far enough. Between then and now we continued to reconfigure this product to strip the number of permissions needed to function properly and obtain user’s explicit permission before enabling those that remained. Aided by new protocols from Google which sped up this process, ATLAS now requires very little in the way of device permissions.
There are many improvements and additional features to ATLAS which are currently under development but addressing the concerns and immediate needs of our users is our top priority. If you have an issue with our products don’t hesitate to reach out to us and express what’s on your mind!
There are many ways to directly reach a real person on our team whether it be by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), social media (@atlasapp_US, facebook.com/atlasappus, /r/atlastechus), and even within the ATLAS app itself. We actively monitor every channel and appreciate hearing from you!
