A look back at some of what state legislatures worked on in August related to guns, alcohol, marijuana, drugs, policing and litigation, and the environment
A number of blue states passed laws this year to create court orders which bar a person from owning or possessing a firearm. They all have substantial variation from State to State. In some cases, only law enforcement can file petitions for court orders to seize a person’s guns. In others, anyone a person has ever dated can make the request.
Recently a federal court ruling made it legal for officers to shoot dogs in homes for moving or barking. Yes, you read that right. If an officer is called to a home or enters with a warrant they are allowed to kill your dog for basically acting like a dog.
Over the past week people from all around the country and the world converged on northern Nevada to create one of the most unique events one can find in the world today, but with a half dozen law enforcement agencies patrolling the area, openly and undercover, actively running sting operations and looking to make busts, many people risk getting caught up in something far more serious than they think.
